Today, and everyday, I am thankful for so many things. My life is truly blessed.
I have an amazing job as a medical assistant at a small but busy family practice. I’ve known since I was young that I had a love for healthcare. I have a passion for helping people. When I graduated from high school, I immediately started school. I wanted to be a paramedic. I did amazing in school, but quickly realized during my internship that it wasn’t for me. So I went back to school to be a medical assistant and that’s what I’ve been doing ever since. I work for a fantastic doctor, and with amazing people who are more like family than coworkers. I’m so lucky to have the career I do.
I’m thankful for my home… I mostly grew up living in a small apartment with my sister and my mom. When I had my oldest daughter and My husband and I decided to get a place of our own, we moved into an apartment in the same neighborhood I grew up in, and lived in apartments for a long time. About 4 years ago now we found a small house in a wonderful neighborhood, in a small, safe town. We still only rent for now, we are working on saving for a house of our own. But I’m so thankful for the house we live in now. The schools are fantastic, my kids have lots of friends close by and I don’t have to worry so much every time they walk out the front door. I have amazing neighbors who always help if we need it and I’m so happy to be out of those small apartments!
And lastly, but probably most importantly, I’m grateful for my husband. While we have only been married for 4 years, I have loved him for over half my life. We met and became friends when I was just eleven years old. The same age my daughter is now! We started dating when I was sixteen, found out I was pregnant at 17, and had our baby girl at just 18. Life was hard. We had a lot of ups and downs. Honestly for a while we had a lot of downs. But that man is my rock. I don’t know where I would be if it weren’t for him. He understands me in a way few people do. He knows how to make me feel better when I’m having one of my bad days. He knows everything about me, things literally no one else knows. He is an amazing father, wonderful husband and the best friend I could ever hope for.
