5 Ways To Feel Better After A Rough Day

So, I’ve mentioned a lot that I suffer from depression. So I know that pretty much every day has its struggles. But some days are just terrible.

Nothing goes right, nothing works out how I expect, and I end up feeling totally overwhelmed, tired, and just plain terrible.

These days are no fun, but sadly happen to me quite often. Over the years there are a few things I have tried to help me feel better. Especially on these horrible days when I just don’t want to do anything.

 

5 Ways To Feel Better After A Rough Day

Take A Bubble Bath

But not just a boring plain old quick bubble bath. Get some nice smelling candles, bath salts, bubble soap, and grab a good book and soak to your heart’s content. I have my Kindle app on my phone and I will pick whatever I’m reading, turn on some calming music, light my candles and turn off the lights and soak and read for as long as it takes me to feel better. And somehow miraculously I have never lost my phone in the tub.Do

Your Hair And Make-up

I know some people think this is weird, but when I’m feeling bad, doing my hair and make-up instantly makes me feel a little bit better. Just taking a little extra time to do something nice for myself makes a difference.

Coloring

I’m pretty sure this requires no explanation… Who doesn’t love coloring!? Its super relaxing and really fun!

 

Listen To Music

Music has always been like therapy for me. No matter what mood you’re in, there is always a song out there that you can relate to. When I’m feeling especially down I grab my phone and go right to my “depressed”playlist… Yes, it’s actually labeled in my phone as “Depressed Playlist”. It’s filled with a whole bunch of songs that always make me feel a little better.

 

Go For A Drive

This is one of my favorites… Go outside, get in your car and go for a drive. Roll the windows down, and hit the back roads. Especially in the fall, taking the back dirt roads is absolutely beautiful with all the trees changing color. Make it even better by plugging in your phone and turning up that playlist you put together just for moods like this. And then just drive until your ready to go back home.

 

Now… I am not a doctor. I am in no way saying this should be used as treatment in place of seeing your doctor. These are just some techniques I use when I’m having an especially rough day. It doesn’t cure my depression, just helps me feel a little bit better. If you need medical advice for any illness, please see your primary doctor.
